The Government of the Federal Republic of Germany, through its Consulate in Malaga, has made an important donation to the English Cemetery in Malaga to partially cover the cost of renovating the monument to “Gneisenau” and Improving its surrounding area. The Imperial German Navy Sail Training Ship “Gneisenau” was shipwrecked against the breakwater of Malaga harbour on 16 December 1900, with the loss of 41 members of crew, the Captain and Chief Englineer. They are all buried in the English Cemetery in Malaga, Avenida de Pries 1.
